Exclamation 1997 Cherokee Sport Inline 6 CYL

I'm new to forums but I have a dumb question that no one knows the answer to but anyway I'm wondering what motors will fit somewhat easily into my 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 L Inline 6 any help would be greatly appreciated!

318 and 305 as far as my knowledge and a 4.2 liter

A 4.0! Haha but some people swap v8s in. That's a lot more work tho

well a 4.0 from the same year will bolt right in. are you talking upgrade motors or rebuilt replacements? there are some people running v8 motors but it is not just a direct swap. lots of fab time goes into that process. you could run a stroked 4.6 I6 if you want more torque and hp. Sorry i am rambling it is just a very vague question.

I'm looking for a engine that I can rebuild and make mods to, I don't want to have to change a whole lot so v8 is out of the question but I just wanted to know what years I can bolt in after rebuild finding a junk motor to rebuild with the block and head is hard so expanding my search is the only way to go.

91-99 will work but you may have to swap some of your brackets.
