Default 1987 cherokee value?

Hey guys, tell me if an 87 XJ is worth making any low ball offer on and how should I decide.

It has not been started in two years but don't know why. It is pretty trashed. But the body isn't rusty is the only reason I'm interested.

I put a battery charger on it for 4 hours today and it barely tried to turn over.

Sorry, I'm a newbie so please educate me. Motor is i6, front floor is wet, looks like it has been under a tree for 5 years, 252k miles.

I would buy it to either get running and sell or work on for 4 years until my son is driving age.

I have a 99 that I enjoy working on that is like new.

Thanks!

Price has not been mentioned. It is a neighbor lady who I noticed had pushed it from carport to driveway after having not seen it move for a few years. So I just stopped and asked if she would sell it which she seemed eager to hear.

If the floor is wet its got rust or will soon,Its sat that long for a reason people never park cars that run they get parked when they break. To me its worth scrap prices and thats the max.

I'm sure it was left for dead for a reason. With all of the unknowns, I wouldn't pay very much for it. Start at $100 and see if they bite.

You guys have no hope. Hell for a few hundred bucks you could have a decent project. Or you could get hosed and be out the price of a tow to the scrap yard.

Could be worse. My buddy stored a truck at a friends farm and it got infested with mice. The lady started putting out poison and that did the trick. He went to pull it out of storage and some wiring under the headliner had some mouse damage and lit the headliner on fire. He grabbed that dang headliner to rip it out and little dead fireball mice started falling everywhere... ah, still makes me chuckle.

Anyways, OP, maybe $200 if the body is nice. Be sure to check underneath it.

But yes, mice have eaten the weather seals.

It's a part-out rig now. You haul it off for her and part it out.

Google "hantavirus".

Find out what its worth in scrap metal price and offer her at least close to that amount, you will still make some money and score some parts.
