is it a beadlock rim? most rims are 8 and 10 inch but if they were beadlock that would make an 8 inch rim actually 9, and a 10 inch an 11.
but you can run a 12.5 tire on a 10/11 inch rim, but would be better suited for a 13.5-14 inch wide tire.

it's not good to air down on a 10in rim with 12.5in wide tires.. So a 11in rim is a BIG NO.. Probably 14.5 wide tire would be the smallest tire to go with on that rim if you want to air down

I run 10" wides on 35x12.50 and air down to 12PSI on the rocks without any issues. However, the wider you go the more risky this gets. Also, the wider they are, the more often they will hit things on the trail, as there is not only sticking out there further, but also there is less "tire bulge" doing defense.
I would either go with a 14" ish tire, or get a more narrow wheel. On the other hand, you can just do it and see what happens...it isn't suicide or anything.
Post some pics if you do it!
On a side note, I would like to see some stats on how well tires hold beads as wheel width goes up. While there has to be a difference, I think the change is exaggerated.

Adding to caged's post...11" is a very odd width. Are they listed as that? If someone is selling them and just measured lip to lip, then it is a 10. A wheel's width is measured from inner lip to inner lip, and as such, the outer lip to outer lip measurement will come up about +1" to the advertised width.
If it is a 10", you can air down fine. If you tend to be really hard on your beads, you may want to go skinnier.

See that's what I figured. Is that he didn't know how to measure. He told me on the phone 15x11. So we will really see. I'm hoping they are tens.

He likely didn't measure the rim right.. It should be a 10in rim.. Had a guy a few days ago come on a wrangler forum talking about having a 16x8in rim and it ended up being the 15x7 stock grizzly rims.. I say no, because i have seen time and time again people break beads airing down then wheeling on a 10in rim with a 12.5in wide tire.. IMO I would save your money and get a 15x8 rim with 3.75-4in bs..
