I don't remember what year or model it was and it didn't actually say to remove the engine but, the amount of stuff we had to remove to get to the starter made it seem like it would have been easier to just take the engine out.

Yes I would in a heartbeat. I love my 2001 Sienna pearl XJ but she is getting the miles pounded on her (I drive 20,000-25,000 miles a year). Mine has 166,668 on it and I really dread the day I have to look for a replacement. There are not too many good stockers and they seem to be hacked to death by 16 year old billy bob to impress Mary Jane rottencrotch.
I think I would just get a 4 door JK. They are not that bad looking with a good sized lift on them and some of them come with the bigger axles etc with factory warranty.
OR I would do this and keep my XJ for offroad.
