Rustoleum textured black. Looks and feels like it was powdercoated but touch up is super easy. I did my stock tire carrier with it, and I love it. Just wish I could actually put my spare on it haha!

I got the light protection bar welded on; I'll put up pix later. Now I'm trying to figure out how to attach my Hi-Lift? I'd like it locked in at at least one spot and don't want to use something like a bike lock. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Awesome man, I was thinking a rack would look terrible unless it was bent tubing but you have changed my mind. I may actually build my rack this way.

Thank! I didn't have a tube bender so was kind of stuck with this but I'm liking the way it's turning out.

That's super clean man, if I didn't already have a roof rack and light bar, I'd go your route. Definitely one of the better home fab jobs I've seen thus far.

Oh yeah, I weighed the thing: 100lbs. Right about how much other Xj roof racks weigh. Not at all bad for how thick this thing is!

How much did you pay for the mounts?

$40 per 4, so $80 total.

Dang. I just used some muffler clamps and brackets that were on the metal I found to make it.

It does seem like a lot now looking at it but I had had 4 laying around from something then I decided I wanted 8 mounts so there came the other 4.

I have this conversion posted in my build thread but I figured I'd throw it over here too. This how I "made" the HID lights I'm going to run on my roof rack:
I started out with some cheap $10 KC knock offs from HF:

Then I went to ebay and purchased a HID conversion kit; $30.
Yet Another Roof Rack-005.jpg
The light from HF were original 55w and were pretty bright; I took out the bulb and wiring and substituted my bulb.

It screwed right in! Very nice!

There was so much room behind the lens, that the ballast for the HID fit in there making it a very compact unit . I tried them out and they were RIDICULOUSLY BRIGHT. They completely kill me high beams. You can clearly see the beam of light. Very, very happy with the outcome.
