Default Yet Another Roof Rack

Been meaning to fab one for a while but just now got around to it. I'm going for a lower profile look with it; I don't like tall roof racks. I plan on running 5 HIDs on it, highlift, spare tire, and maybe a shovel and ax. The metal is 1" square tube with 1/8 wall; thick I know but it was free .

Here's the base finished and just set on the roof.

I'm going to attach it with 8 JRC gutter mounts.

I'm thinking 2.5" between base and top rail.

It looks well made but heavy.

It may be a bit heavier than ideal but that's fine by me; It's actually surprisingly light so far

I've decided on a 2" gap between the base and rail; so overall the rack should be 4" tall. I'm also going to attach a brush guard for the lights as I frequently scrape branches over my roof and don't want to loose my lights :P Haven't decided on a switch panel yet.

I like the low profile look. I want one similar for mine but only from the front doors back just big enough for a full size spare.

I really like that. I never cared for tall racks either.

I'm trying to figure out what to coat the thing with. Any ideas, opinions?

Man, like the lo-profile look. I just scrolled through the pictures at first & thought, "love the low profile look" and then went back & read that that is what you were going for. Good job really like it so far..
