Default XJ VHF Upper-Mount

Started off 4 weeks ago with a plan to mount the VHF within the center console. After a couple of weeks of staring at the console I finally pulled the plug on that idea, there just isn't anywhere I can put it that won't get in my way.

So after seeing a bunch of nice YJ/TJ/JK/everything but an XJ mounts, finally came up with an idea for an upper mount that will appease my love of hidden wiring. And let me use the mainly free stuff I have laying around.

Used some 3/16 x 4" machine screws with washers and nuts
Cover plate from a 6x6 electrical JB (CSA approved!!)
Two 1x5 Deck ties from HD
Drill and 1/4" bit

Removed the sunglasses / garage door opener holder doors, nothing else has been removed.

Pics are pretty self explanatory, especially to a Cherokee owner! If you have any questions let me know.

Planning on using some flexible tubing coming out the back into the console frame, just to clean it up a bit.

looks clean. I also mounted mine overhead, but with a CB as well. Was able to hide all the wiring through the headliner and a pillar.

If you get a radio with separate head, you can mount it very easily without modifying the console.

The a-pillar is what has given me the biggest headache, the two lower screws are nearly impossible to get at with the dash where it is...I guess I have something to do with the other 30 minutes of my lunch hour tomorrow.

Well now, that doesn't sound very fun?!

My main concern was keeping it looking as stock as possible, and since all of my electronics luckily work well, thought I might as well utilize it.

The head of the I208h fits exactly in the looks hatch and you can close it up. I have 3 vhf radios in mine so I need to get creative....
