if you find a 4bt for 1500 bucks send me a pm. I need one for my CJ10a! All i can find is stuff for 4k and up.Originally Posted by PingPong
Also you have to look at this from a straight finacial standpoint. Figure you get a complete 4bt and it had relatively low mileage you are looking at 1500. Then you need a decent trans and for would it would have to be a nv4500 so another 1000. Then you have the time to do this swap right. cooling issues, new/modded driveshafts. By the time you are said and done doing the swap you will have 500+ hrs and 10k. YEah it would be cool, but take forever to recover your investment in fuel savings.

I think you need to do more research. You don't HAVE to run a NV4500 trans, some came with a TH400 auto trans, I've also seen people swap SM465, 435, TH350, TH700R4, and others.Originally Posted by PingPong

as long as you can get it all used I dont see it being a $10k project at all. And I dont mean so used it needs a rebuild. but the hours put in could be a ton depending on the route you take and the engine you put in.

EXCUSE ME.
I never really looked into the swap, but I know that doing a v-6 swap was more expensive then I thought. All the same the return on investment is not worth it from a finacial stand point.
would be nice to find a thread with info on where to get possible engines to use and a good engine to trans match.

WAY TOO LONG IMO but hey it would be unique thats for sure. 4 bt would be plenty of power though. 6bt would also be very heavy for an xj. Look into a mitsubishi 2.3 turbo diesel out of a ford. they came in rangers and i believe in some escorts and other models. not a ton of power but very compact and much lighterOriginally Posted by 00XJ
could you fit a 6cyl cumming in a xj

delivery trucks, short bus's, and a **** load of various pieces of heavy equipment like skidders, and buldozers. if you try to find one try to get one out of a delivery truck or a short bus so the wiring harness is similar! making custon wiring harnesses is a *****!!!!!!! My brother did a 6bt swap into his 01 v10 ram and everything is ghetto as hell. my buddies tell me it is frankentruck. lmaoOriginally Posted by DEVILSTOY
