I think you need to do more research. You don't HAVE to run a NV4500 trans, some came with a TH400 auto trans, I've also seen people swap SM465, 435, TH350, TH700R4, and others.

as long as you can get it all used I dont see it being a $10k project at all. And I dont mean so used it needs a rebuild. but the hours put in could be a ton depending on the route you take and the engine you put in.

EXCUSE ME. I never really looked into the swap, but I know that doing a v-6 swap was more expensive then I thought.

All the same the return on investment is not worth it from a finacial stand point.

ha ha not a bad site

the 4BT is a grate motor I KNOW THIS! but most of us dont have the $$$. So this is what Im doing with. http://www.dieselbombers.com/diesel-...des-om617.html
The merceds 300SD has a OM617a witch is a I5 turbo diesel motor. looks like after some small stuff done it pots out 200 ftlbs and 180ph. that not bat for a motor that isn't even 3.0L
O ya and i just bote this car for $500, drove it home. "after priming the fuel it ran fine" it pays to know.
I was going to run a 4.3 vortec tell I fund this motor. hope this helps ???

WAY TOO LONG IMO but hey it would be unique thats for sure. 4 bt would be plenty of power though. 6bt would also be very heavy for an xj. Look into a mitsubishi 2.3 turbo diesel out of a ford. they came in rangers and i believe in some escorts and other models. not a ton of power but very compact and much lighter

delivery trucks, short bus's, and a **** load of various pieces of heavy equipment like skidders, and buldozers. if you try to find one try to get one out of a delivery truck or a short bus so the wiring harness is similar! making custon wiring harnesses is a *****!!!!!!! My brother did a 6bt swap into his 01 v10 ram and everything is ghetto as hell. my buddies tell me it is frankentruck. lmao
