Ok so I was wondering if anyone has made the back of their xjs able to hold a wheel chair. I have a 3 year old son who will be needing to be in one all the time but not for a few years but I want to take out the back seat of mine and make it to where I can roll one in the back and lock it down. What I really need to know is it possible to lower the flooring in the inside a little to get more head clearence? Any input or suggestions would be great. Like I said I have a few years to do it but I really dont want a van I want my 4x4 so we can still go camping and a little off roading nothing huge with him in it but he just loves to look out and see new things. Thank

I don't have much info on the topic but u might want to look into a fuel cell that way u could cut a large setion out of the rear where the tank is! that could give u at least another foot of head room!?!? A lot of guys here have replaced the rear floor pans so I bet they could help a little more!

i thought about trying this just S&G. my original thought was to take the gas tank out and have one right behind the front seats with the filler neck going through one of the rear doors.id also weld that door to the rest of the body.
i would cut out the back part of the floor basically from the edge of the new fuel tank back. i would lower as much as possible with alot of square tube bracing and thick gauge sheet metal. also id try a fold down ramp that had bracing made into it. just my thoughts. sorry to hear about your son bud.

Well thanks guys I havnt even thought of moving the tank and you guys make a good point with it. Yes I will be planning on doing the work I live in Las Vegas, NV. I am a fabricator down here so I know a thing or to but not to much about these trucks. I love making stuff and doing things one time and seeing the end result. Plus I would love to have the kid with me in my truck. I belive it will be fun to build and make all and all. So thanks again guys for the input and please if you think of anything else let me know. Thanks again

If your thinking about buying another one try and find one with the top extension part like the conversion vans sometime have (i will search for a pic) that would give you some headroom
