Welding Tips
Hi guys, first off, let me know if this is the wrong place between here and tech or off-topic. My dad, unknown to me, has had a welder from day one at his garage that he has never really used while i've been around or could remember, but i want to start messing around and teaching myself to weld so i was wondering if you guys had any tips for me or good reading to look at. The only thing i know is that it must be extremely clean to stick and to wear welding googles(for the most part). I did a trial in like 7th grade in a 2 hours course, but thats all i ever got, and it was with a different kind of welder.

Just got off the phone with my dad and this is the info he gave me on the welder.
Variable Amp Sections Arc Welder
Up to 3/16" rod, 35-230 AC Amp output
Any info you guys have is appreciated. I will be having someone else helping me out (friend from high school who has been welding since he graduated)

Stick is the hardest of the welders to start out on. I would suggest going to your local community college and taking a basic welding course. You won't regret it.
