Another shot at this now that Christmas is coming up, what welder should I ask Santa for? Something not too expensive, but still worth the money. (MIG, preferably)

Hobart 140 if you don't plan on welding thicker than 1/4". It's been great for me

I'm not sure about anyone running sales on them, but make sure not to get the hardware store version. If you get it online (got mine from amazon) you get a better version with an all metal wire feed, upgraded ground clamp, and something else.

We usually put pieces in the CNC mill to miter them but this time all machines are backed up with other customers' orders. So I made this jig to use on the vertical bandsaw to miter the corners.

I wouldn't, but it's up to you. It's a downgraded version of the ones they have online. It has a plastic wire feed, smaller/less beefy ground clamp, and less wire speed settings if I remember right.
