It is... But I didn't see this issue mentioned and there might be ten readers out there who just bought one of these to play with for the first time following this thread.

That's an interesting theory but I don't see that happening (nor have I ever experienced it). Yes, the wire is hollow so it can house the flux, but it's not like it's just hollow tube... the flux isn't "squishy" in there, it's pretty solid itself until it's superheated during the welding process.

sorry guys didn't get a chance to check it out as I was working on the e30 all day yesterday. I work Tues-Sat.

I am able to "thread" new wire through and it did work for about a minute or two before it stopped pushing the wire through.

So...check the spool, make sure the wire is coming off the roll straight, not crossing over at all. Make sure your roller is set up correctly. Once both those have been eliminated, time to check the input of the liner for the gun, make sure no sharp edges. Trim a section of wire off the new spool, about 3 times the length of the whip...then, feed it into the inlet for the whip, leave the roller open. Remove the tip on the gun. Manually feed the length of wire into the liner, until the wire pops out of the end, then pull through slowly. If you start feeling resistance, change the liner to your gun. Do the same thing again, but this time put a tip on after the wire feeds through. Again, pull it slowly, feel if it resists. If not, I would at that point replace the liner/whip anyways, it may be arcing inside, if it has been crushed, or damaged in some way. IF you do all this, and it seems fine, load it up like normal, and try again. If it still does it, time to take it in for a hard service.

Well...let's just say I'm down right now for the foreseeable future...Just ordered new wheels and tires. However, just this AM my pooch had to go in for emergency surgery, so any and all things are done right now, as it cleaned me out. I'll update my thread when things are square.

Default Wanting to learn

Hey y'all, I figured this was the best thread to ask this question. I wanna start learning how to weld, I wanna be able to weld things like floor pans, frame, and roll bars things if that nature. I just don't know what kinda welder or anything I'd need to start. I try looking it up online but I tend to get confused by ALL the information I try to take in all at once. So I was hoping a veteran welder could give me a run down of what the best welding machine would be best for me to begin learning with that is a good all around welder. Thanks guys.

I dont know really anything about welding but i would think the most efficient way to learn would be to take a college course

I don't have the time to go to college yet, military keeps me pretty busy, plus if I just figure out what kind if welder and a jump start to some basic welding knowledge, I'll be good from there. I'm a fast learner.
