I welded mine almost a year ago now, DD, offroad every weekend, hasn't let me down yet, welded the spiders, and put a couple tacks on the C-clips, did not weld the carrier, just in case I didnt like it, and could still change out for new spiders gears. Now I just think I should of done it years ago. what a difference it makes, but you do have to change your driving style, specially in the winter. Keep you tires air'd up to max, on the street for min. wear. drive on the street air'd down, your going to get noticed real fast, have fun with the difference, if you decide to weld

I would root it with 6011 then cap it with a 7018
The 6011 would drive out the contaminants and is a good penetrant, but produces a brittle weld.
Capping with the 7018 would create a stronger less brittle weld as it is not a fast freeze rod.
I'm rocking a Lockrite in the front, and am eyeing up the 8.25 with my arc welder this winter with bad intentions.

that's what I was thinking, everything BUT the damn c clips. lol. Oh well. He said in case he didn't like it, I was like, How does he plan on un-doing it with the c clips welded? xD glad it's holding up, puts faith in the chrysler 8.25!
Thanks for the tips, we will be welding the donor 8.25 I picked up soon. I'll let you know how it goes. Actually we are welding up two, I picked up another 8.25 for my nephew...that Dana 35 in his Wrangler just folded with bigger tires. Easy swap, just moving the perches.

the previous owner of my jeep welded my rear up. needless to say when i was leaving work a week and a half ago something let loose. opened my diff up and two of the spiders were snapped in half. in the process of doing an axle swap now. i dded mine 60 miles away and went through tires pretty fast. looking for an alternate to welding this time around.

I am not for sure. I am moving and going to be pulling my xj. I was going to just put it on a wheel dolly and put my back axle on it. ((((( I think it will not tow as straight, but should be ok behind a motor home. That is my opinion. If I am worng please let me know.)))))
Could rent a full size car trailer from U-Haul, then you
Don't even have to worry about it.
