Tube fenders?

Ok, so I'm having a friend build me rock sliders and I was thinking about adding tube fenders. I took my flairs off and trimmed the quarter and the fenders and now my tires have alot of excess hanging out. I plan on putting 35s on it by the end of the summer so I want some sort of flair. Flairs are expensive so I thought tube style fenders would be more effective. I was thinking about having them come from the rock sliders and attach to the rear bumper for the back and the front for the front then welding sheet metal in the gap. What do you guys think? I'm just going for a look that not alot of people have. Also he said he could build me an exocage. Thoughts on that?

Ok thanks. Basically I'm just wondering if welding sheet metal to the tubes that are attached to the bumpers and the rocksliders will break because of the flex.

Anything will break if you crank on it hard enough, BUT I have seen some awesome tube fenders built the exact same way you described, and they hold up to people standing on them.

Thanks for all the replys. I'll guess I'm gonna do tube fenders now. By the end of this summer I'll hopefully have rock sliders, bumpers, a couple more inches of lift and 35s, and possibly a full exocage

I've seen that orange XJ in a ton of mags and the round headlights make the old school Jeeper in me (started out in CJs and a MB) but the Cherokee lover I've become hates them. I'm one of those weirdos who prefers the square headlight on Wranglers.
