most people that I see around have small heavy duty duffel bags with handles that are the nylon straps that go under (around/underneath) the duffel bag.. anything less and the handles eventually tear out. An actual BOX can be a bad thing if you were to ever get super brave and and up rolling the jeep over.. metal is bad (rattles).. plastic is okay (becomes brittle and can become unlatched = tools on the ground = !!) .. but a duffel bag can zip up, etc etc

do a search for "tools needed for the trail" and you would get a great list of must bring stuff.. lots I would forget to pack in the excitement of a pre-trip..

Good Luck!!

I have a black plastic box I got at Walmart, takes up most of the rear,I use bungee cords hooked to the factory tie down loops to keep it from moveing, takes about 30 seconds to get it out.
