Sanden On Board Air Conversion
This past weekend I began my conversion from A/C to OBA. When I take on these projects I hate when it looks hacked. I tend to try and make my projects look like they could have been OEM and with all of the reliability. Luckily with this project I have connections to the supplies because I could never have afforded it.
I made a coil out of 3/8 stainless to cool the air before it goes in to synflex hoses. The coil is a 3" coil that goes down in the dead area above the oil filter. It also has a bracket bracing the bottom of the coil sharing a motor mount bolt. There is a check valve going into the evaporator which will act as a manifold. 1/2" synflex will go down the firewall to a tank under the Jeep.
In what looks like a vertical stack of fittings there is a Tee and 215psi industrial pressure release valve. On the tee will be a Viair pressure switch/solenoid in one.
Its going to be controlled from inside with a pressure gauge and the Daystar HVAC vent style switches. The second switch will be a high idle switch.
The tank will go underneath somewhere and I still need an oiler and then oil/water filter. After removing the old A/C stuff It should look great and be about done.
