made my own cat back
So after I bought my jeep the exhaust went to ****...from the cat back it was all rotted and sounded terrible so I figured I would fix that...so I went to my local parts store to see if they had any flow master 40 series in 2.25 diameter...sure enough they did...I also had to get a new stock tail pipe section which was 52$ so all together I did this for about 100$ not a bad Saturday here is some pics to show what I did....
Here is the muffler with some extra pipe the difference between the stock muffler and the flow master was about 4"
As you can see the new to the old was much needed the hanger actually was rotted out and fell off as soon as started cutting the old stuff off.
This part took me some time to do I had to make sure it would clear the drive shaft and the frame rail the flowmaster is a lot fatter then the stock and was a bit of a challenge to find just the right spot I clamped everything in place to test fit once I knew it was good I welded it in and removed the clamps.
Last thing was to tighten the rear hanger up....and remove all my clamps.....also I was lucky enough to have Napa right next door to my work there is to different styles of tail pipes and they let me take both and return the one I didn't need so that is a must to know if your going to be doing this at home especially if your jeep is the only transportation!
After all I'm very happy with the outcome it sounds great nice and factory look but a nice mellow tone! Thanx for looking hope too see everyone elses creations....

How does the 40 series sound? That's what I've been wanting to get. Does it pop or get raspy at a high rpm? Sometimes flows do that

Yeah, how's it sound? My muffler broke and was dangling, then the cat fell off somewhere on the road. Ended up mounting pipe all the way back then adding a glasspack. Sounds nice, but am interested in the flow muffler.

I have to have my cat on to pass inspection in Texas, otherwise I'd take it off too. but I want it to be loud enough for people to hear it. Just not so loud that people hate it
