Can anyone tell me if there is a recomended distance for the fairlead to sit away from the winch? I have built a winch mount bumper and want to make sure before I mount it up. Pics I've seen look to be anywhere from touching the winch to four inches or so?

 

Yup, and anywhere in between. it doesn't matter. Just get it parallel with the drum.
