Default receiver hitch clevis

Hey guys, so i was thinking about either doing these, or actually getting hooks to fit into the 2" receiver that is in the front bumper i got last weekend. I was going to make my own front bumper to match the rear but i found this one at u pull it for 30 and couldn't pass it up.

Anyways, i though about ordering some of the smittybuilt ones, but i thought i would try my hand at it since tonight was a really slow night at work.

Im gonna go to.coastals tomorrow and.buy the clevises, but let me know what you think of them for now. Any feed back would be great

Yours is neat but this one^^^^ is better. The fillets at the base of the tang make it WAY stronger, not to mention its not mystery metal...17-4 ftw.

I plan on putting radius on the edges, and i like the transition from the small part to the big part. I might go make a little revision

Would people buy them? its just like a garage project to me, that'd be cool if i could sell them!

so today i put radius's on the corners so it will fit in the receiver and then drilled holes for the keeper pin.

This is just in my garage, so i know its a little redneck but hey ya gotta use what ya got right??

I drew plans up today for them on autocad and hopefully soon ill convert it to master cam and then cut em on the cnc at a friends house!

I like that they are from solid stock. Do you know approx what they weight? If you could sell these for cheaper than others do, then people would definitely buy them. I may be in the market for another one when I get a front bumper with receiver piece in it.

I do not know the weight unfortunately. But yea i went to the tractor supply store and got two d ring shackles, and i also have two more on order that are screw pin d rings. Those are goin to have to.wait til i get paid tomorrow though. And im still working out the exact measurements for everything, and.once i get a solid blueprint down ill get a program generated for it and then see how much everything together would be and then see what happens!

a drop reciever is actually a better idea for recovery imo, you can use different angles to gain traction for the pulling vehicle and pulls upwards on the vehicle stuck to pull them up outta the mud. its easier to get to when your stuck and is less likely to get hung up when offroading.
