Default Rear Bumper Build

So my plan is to get the most out of every piece of equipment I add to this Jeep. Right now it’s the back bumper. I was able to salvage the trailer hitch receiver as seen in the first picture. The second picture shows how rusted the old one was. Next I went to the junk yard and picked up 2 giant pieces of 6" square tubing that is .25" thick and some 2.5" diameter tubing that will be used later for the swing out tire carrier for $40. One is what I used on the back bumper and the other will eventually be for the front. The tubes you see will be welded to the inside and outside of the bumper and then onto the plates that are then bolted into the existing spots were the old bumper is bolted in. The reciever has a plate welded on the back to keep it air tight and is then welded to the bumper inside and out. The last picture is how it looks as it is now until I start working on the swing out tire carrier in the next week or two.

thats one huge bumper you might wana tie it in better if you plan on towing. maybe tie it it like how the hitch was. and is that a metal blade on the circular saw?

not to be a 8==> but this bumper so far looks horrible. take your time and use some creativity in your project. anyone can slap a big tube on the back of a jeep, so make yours different.it would be cool if you did like angle cuts on the end imo or jazzed it up somehow. tough love im sub'd though cause i wanna see the finish....good luck

O don't worry this is only the beginning. There will be a lot more done to this thing by the time it is done. Right now I just ordered the spindle assembly and lach for the tire carrier. Just sucks that I only have weekends right now to work on it. It will also be tied in better but I just ran out of time this past weekend before anymore work could be done.

you have the tools to notch the tube. you could easily cut some 2x8 triangles out of the top and bottom outter edge, then hammer it in flush / weld.

you could get some good lines with it... maybe draw out some ideas.
