Raising the roof on a Cherokee?
I have always wanted to use my Cherokee for overland trips and potential short term living. I was just doing some research and putting a plan together of all the things I want to do, when I came across the Smittybuilt safari hardtops for the Wrangler. It basically adds an extra 8" of headspace in the interior. I got to wondering what it would take to fabricate such a roof into the XJ. What are your thoughts on the idea? What would that entail? If you have seen anyone attempt anything similar please link. I have looked all over and all I can find are pop up roofs.
Doesn't help you on how but still might interest you.

I suggest getting measurements from the XJ & going to a salvage yard & finding a conversion van close to the same specs & nabbing the top off of it.
I will add that you will need frame stiffeners at the minimum.
