Default Not Another Bumper Build

Okay so i lied.
After looking long and hard at all the bumper builds, I decided to build my own.

So here is what got done in the past 24 hrs.

I got the pipe (schedule 40 conduit)

I got the ends

Started the cutting

Did some fitting

Got my helper

Started the welding (my neighbor Chris 30 yrs exp)

Got the ends on

Mocked it up again

Added the "Deervertor"

Final welding

2 rolls of dimes (damn he is good)

That about does it for today.
Tomorrow is final grinding and painting.

What do u guys think?

If you'r going to use it for a tow point then you might want to make the brackets longer to tie in farther back into the frame rail.

I think it'll turn out good, once you get all the welds smoothed down and some paint on it, itll make a diffrence.. Diffrent is good! Oh and also, fab up your own clevis brackets to fit the contour, it'll look good.

Thanks for all the comments.

I was going for different so that's a good thing.

It is about 5 gal of air space so I may pressurize it later on. I know the welds will hold.

I'm gonna put 2 big D-rings on it for light pulling.

Still have to mount the front tags (damn you va)

More pics to come.

Looks good so far, I see the double pipe rear bumpers all the time, but on Cj's and they usually look kinda dinkie. I've never seen one on an XJ let alone the front, and that one looks like it will hold up. Nice build, final product pics NOW

I had one like that on an old Dodge 4x4 I had, welded a bung into it for a quick disconnect air connection, on board air, was great to plug an impact into or refill tires and such.

I got the bumper painted and back on today

sorry for the bad pics i have some better ones coming.

I think it turned out great. It looks wide but it matches the bushwackers. I just shot it black so i can add the clevis brackets later and touch up will be easy.

On a side note the porsche is a 87 924 project im naming "Totally 80's". It still has the radio shack phone in it and a cassette holding arm rest.

i also have a 77 martini 924 to work on LOL
