Need material recommendation for seat mounts
I have a pair of aftermarket seats for my XJ that I’d like to build installation brackets for. I’ll be using the stock mounting studs and stock seat belts. My Jeep does not have a cage.
I was considering using 1 x 0.065” hot roll steel square tube. Adequate for the conditions seen in rough driving? (Well, as rough as a stock XJ will allow.)
I’ll be using a Lincoln Weld Pak 125 with InnerShield wire.

Having just taken my stock seats (non power) out I'd say that anything over .065" wall would be overkill because those stamped stock parts are really lightweight.

I’ll be using “Matrix” brand seats but was thinking of tossing the sliders they came with and mounting them to Sparco fixed side mounts for rigidity. (I’ll have to fabricate additional brackets to convert the seats from bottom mount to side mount, but that’s no big deal either.)

I used some aluminum angle. Its like 1/8" or 1/6". You can see it in my build thread. I had to use some risers on mine because the seat was so wide.
