If you're talking about the winch plate, then no. It has a very slight down angle so that water won't pool.

Great looking bumper & great fab work. This site is great for all of the different ideas that everyone shares. Just makes me want to start my front bumper now that I finally finshed my rear bumper.

Like I said earlier, it does work. But, any professional welder that knows their stuff will tell you to use solid core. Not saying flux doesn't work. But it definitely isn't anywhere near as good as solid. If what's you can use though, then go for it. As you know, you just need to prep the metal very well to get a nice clean weld.

And thanks, 00Pa!

Guys, forgive me for sounding as noob as I am.. but what are all the kinds of tools / equipment you use when building these bumpers? I'd love to give it a go one day but all I have is an air compressor

So if one were to have a shopping list it would be?

welder? (amps, mig, tig)
cutting? (plasma, steel chop saw... how are you cutting this stuff!?)
die grinder? etc etc etc
bending?

I'd be curious to hear anyone's input but also what no_rdplz used in his shop to build this bumper. Thanks guys!

This bumper looks fantastic btw. I can only dream of having the skill and resources to put something like that together!

My dad and I used a Miller MIG with gas, solid core wire, angle grinders with various wheels, and a chop saw. Soft wheels, an orbital sander, and a zip sander (both air powered) were used to clean all the welds up. Different settings on the welder need to be used based on how thick and what type of metal you're using.

Figured I'd throw in a long awaited (wife's car needed some repairs so that ate up my winch fund) update: The winch installed. Went with a RS9500 through RC rather than the XRC8. Also got the TJ flares on so it all the lines tie together.
