I believe i have pics in my album of the same type setup. The best thing about that is no noise at all. Plus it is a lot stronger than anyone would think. Another great part is that if you want to double the weight compacity, Just go to the JY, pick up two more stock rails and throw them under there. So you would then have 4 rails to bolt too.

Hi, First off, nice job on the rack.
I built one for my '90 a couple of years ago out of 1/2" and 3/4" EMT and found it to be very strong. This past Christmas, I was giving a driving lesson to my 15 Y.O. daughter off road and she missed a turn. We slid down into a 6 ft deep ditchand ended up on the drivers side. My Jeep came to rest supported by the two driver's side wheels on one side of the ditch and the roof rack against a pine tree on the other side. When the wrecker pulled it out 2 hours later, the only dammage was a bent section of conduit and two blown fuses (from the water in the ditch).
Long live the conduit roof rack!!

nice! i plan on starting to build my own roof rack quite similar to your own, quick question, how tall is your rack? and how steep of angle do you have on the front of your rack? i plan on making mine 5 inches tall, with a 45 degree angle for the front.
