Let us know how this does after some wheeling!
I like this a lot and may consider doing it myself granted it doesn't blow your jeep up. jk

They have those fan mounts that push through the radiator I used them on my old chevy back in the day.

I am still kinda new to Jeeps.
You got the fan from a Jeep Xj...That would be a cherokee or cherokee sport from the late 90's right?

Looks pretty straight forward. i was thinking of grabbing a switch from advance auto parts. It has a setting for temp right on it too.

Thanks for posting this up.

I kinda want to do the same thing, looks much cleaner and easier then a taurus fan (of which I have sitting in my basement waiting to go in )

After doing some reading I decided to do this because the Taurus thing involved too much work

i used the late model housing with an early 80's corvette 350 temp sensor. screws right in single wire turns on at 195*. fits right in the housing. i also got bored and slightly ported er smoothed the housing a bit. figure any practice i can get before i port my head is good practice.

oh ya edit sensor was like $9

I've heard this repeated several times on many forums but have yet too see any data backing it up. The only thing anyone has confirmed is that they are quieter than the early style fans and they pull more amperage. One of the aftermarket fan manufacturers actually states on their site that straight blade fans will move more air at the expense of more noise. Naturally I can't find the link when I want it.

Dirtbound did some testing here and they were supposed to test an early model fan but from what I can see, haven't yet.

I bought a used early one and it ended up being junk so I just bought an aftermarket one to replace it. We'll see how it works this summer.

So I'm getting ready to try this I'm going to run a relay so it kicks on with stock fan and a switch that I can turn it on anytime with the key on. Did you guys just put bolts where the fan clucth went my studs are going to hit my e fan.

Yep! The bolts are I believe 5/16-24 fine thread. I went 3/4 inch length and they worked perfect. Didn't even have to loosen the belt either.
