well, i finally got around to doing it, found several aftermarket ones, but couldn't bring myself to paying for them. i had a big chunk of stainless lying around so i got to cutting lol. let me know what you think and what i can do to make it better. also i took out the blockoff behind the headlight too.

 

Definitely a good first shot. I see a few places for refinement, such as entirely boxing the filter off and having it suck air from outside the engine bay.

id polish the stainless up abit if youre gonna go for that clean look. but it does look pretty simple and clean!

but..if you mud like i do off and on...that wouldnt last very long. I prefer my boxed air filter because nothing gets up into the intake after a good mud bath...just before the filter

im going to pollish it after all the "upgrades" are done to it, thanks for all the comments, it was very simple to build just an hour of time, a few cardboard boxes, and a cutoff wheel. i don't mud too much this is actually my wifes vehicle but i can't leave anything alone. where is the best place to bring in outside air from withough putting a scoop on. i want to leave it uncut lol.
