Never spray brake clean on a hot even warm weld to clean it. A guy did it not knowing and passed out almost immediately and died not long after(meaning less than an hour)

Very good/helpful post .. Cant say ive ever used any cleaners before welding, its always just been, once the grinder got it down to shinny it was good to go.

Though some people dont relize the danger of chemical exposure, even in everyday house hold cleaners.

little off-topic, one time when i was cleaning the toilet with the scrubby brush. I decided to mix some cleaners in the bowl.. BAD IDEA!!! I had a few different bleaches and things and i took one wiff of that and i thought i had just breathed in acid! So i just flushed it, shut the door, and ran! lol I was fine afterwards, just my throat and lungs hurt for awhile

also if I may add-I was useing a gas welder to do floor boards some years ago on galvinized, long story' thnirse said I should be comatose' gas combustion exhaust and the fumes from welding galvinized near killed me
