how are you mounting the stock gauges? and have you thought of making something to cover up the bare part of the steering column? to kind of clean it up

After looking at the ugly stock switches I put in the dash, I just ordered a new switch panel with a start toggle. Im losing the key'd ignition and am going to run a batt disconnect and anti-theft button (either off the coil, or msd box). This is my toy not my daily driver, so it okay! Please don't hurt my feelings about the start switch.

Its going to be for Start, Ign, Fan (once I ditch the mechanical) Fog lights, and I haven't decided on back up lights/roof rack lights (on/of/on) or stereo/accessory on/off

I just cut off the idiot light set off the stock cluster and used the clear face as a template to cut out and drill holes to mount. I had to cut off the stock mounting tabs and go through the clear lens. I need to make some fillets to match the curve of the lense. Or just go ahead and order some autometers.

Here are the Autometer Cobalts in my 03 Superduty

thats exactly what I'm doing for the battery, but I like the idea of making quick stops with out having to mess with it, so im just going to install a hidden switch that is also accessible, something easy like a on/off toggle micro switch under my seat or above the visor.

I've got half a dozen of these, sitting around, still in the box.

I like the idea of a hidden safety switch. Someone may be able to jump the battery cutoff, and a safety switch would prevent them from being successful.

My dad has one on his '68 Camaro convertable, and my buddie has one on his '71 Chevelle.

They are simple, cheap, and a great back up.

Just a teaser, but the pic of the dash looks like a different green, the access cover is a little better. In the sun it looks good - to me.

Any chance you could put up measurements or anything? I'd like to see if I could fab the same thing up, or something similar.

Was it difficult to remove the factory dash? I haven't really looked too much into it.

the top piece is 54x7in (at the center) welded to a 1.25od pipe 55in long. The face is 55x8in with 2 pieces of 1.25od pipe on the bottom. The hardest part was holding it into place while I drilled holes for the upper mounting tabs. Get a buddy to help and its a piece of cake. As far as removing the dash just go slow and label everything. its not too bad. As previously posted someone butchered my wiring harness to the radio so thats the only issue I had. I also removed the ac/heather, and the matching harness.

oh and the endcaps were made from scrap. Both have a screw the runs through the pinch weld and lower dash mounting tab
