I just cut a hole in the roof to put a sunroof over the rear seats. I am debating putting it in backwards to "scoop" the air rather than open up in the rear. Any reason I shouldn't do this?

....

Well first I would suggest you go for a drive down the highway and put your hand out the window.. Feel that force pulling it up? Imagine that on a chunk of glass attached by flimsy brackets on your roof...

Go ahead though, but make sure you film it please.

Well it is working quite well. I will not have it open going 70 down the high way but it seems solid currently. And I can reach the opener from the drivers seat so I am happy about that. I have ac so the majority of the time I will have it open is when it is parked, when I first get in it on a hot summers day, or at low speeds tooling around.

Backwards sunroof? That's kinda stupid but hey if you like it...

But are those ZJ seats? They look extra nice and comfy right there...

No that is why I feel like I stole my first xj. I bought it to flip because in MI a working 4x4 it worth pretty much $1000 all day. It had an electrical problem that was an easy and my friend talked her down to $360. The interior looked new. it was a little old lady's daily driver that the dealer told they would charge her more to fix the headlights then it was worth. Took me 30min to fix and I drove it for 9months till the trans when. It made me love xjs. Started this jeep soon after. Took the nice black interior and put it in this project got rid of the nasty tan.
