I would say that there won't be any saving your paint. If it's peeling it sounds like it was more than likely a DIY project. He probably didn't prep the surface properly. If he did prep it somewhat, your paint is probably scuffed up pretty bad. So saving the paint seems to be totally out of the question.

does noone realize that you can hook up 12v wires to the fuse box?
if you don't want a bunch of wires comeing off the battery follow the wires that come off the battery and they go to the fuse box.... put your wires there.
