thanks for the concern... I know they are not amazing welds, BUT they do look a lot better in personOriginally Posted by Slick761
Ya! You dont want to break a weld.... I've heard of rustys brackets starting to crack and pull apart... you really need to reinforce everything and have very solid wells with lots of penetration. If you lose your track bar on a corner...... well nothing nice.
the axle side track bar mount is the stock mount with a 1/4" plate welded and laid over it, then the ugly part is that it has been grinded out for more clearance
that frame side tb mount looks better in person
that being said I did have my buddy's dad check it out, he has been a welder/fabricator for over 35 years, he says they are fine, and more importantly, safe...
but he also made a few recommendations:
-stop using FLUX CORE... it is ugly and in the end it is expensive... however it is just as strong as gas, BUT it tends to splatter
-add a support bar that runs from the frame side TB mount to the other side of the frame
-add more gussets... no reason not too, as long as they clear every thing
-he also says I should try running just a hair more wire speed... not much but just a little more

Live and learn. Id definately inspect my welds now and then if Im new to it. If it starts cracking go back and fix it. Practice makes perfect.Originally Posted by Slick761

I'll pick up a new dogtag chain to replace all that when I go to Ft Meade tonight. I only had two toe tags laying around in my apt.

Does that still seal now that you drilled a hole in the cap? Very important that it does.Originally Posted by NewKindOfClown

P.S. - Are you REALLY that bad at losing your gas cap?

I just like the convenience. My old one was tethered, and I'm used to letting go when I unscrew it, so I keep dropping it at the pump lol. I think the hollow interior of the handle is separated from the rest, but if I did break the seal, I guess I'll have to buy another one. Live and learn.Originally Posted by dukie564

By the way, the outlined area was designed to hold the cap while filling.

Might still be able to use your tether and put it in that mount. Now you won't drop it though! Originally Posted by NewKindOfClown
