Couple that with possibly having to pull it uphill through the mud you will be very likely to break the come along. With winches I do believe it is recommended to have one that is at least 1.5 times as strong as your vehicle weighs with everything in it. I have a similar one rated at 8000 and personally would not use anything rated below 6000 without other factors. Please don't take any of this negatively, I just like when people are informed and don't want to see anyone get hurt.
Thank you. I'll make sure I keep a note of that for when I go shopping for recovery/off roading gear

Why wouldn't you just spend $10 for the plugs and save yourself from hacking the stock wiring? You're probably the douche that had my XJ before the PO I got it from.

Yeah, it turns out so much better to change your radio with the kit. I am glade I did mine the right way. It keeps things wired the right way.

Yeah. I agree. I also got an amazing deal on a pioneer head unit for $68 when its original price was $190. Bargaining skills are very nice to have

Not trying to "take sides" in this seemingly passionate hate post, BUT... I believe what he was saying was that he tore wiring out of the DECK, not that he hacked up the factory wiring on the harness. So essentially, he saved the factory wiring, just effectively trashed the deck. all in all, he's essentially made his own wiring harness and saved 10 bucks in the process... just my .02

Built this storage box and dog deck. the deck form fits to the plastic trimming so they cant pinch their paws. I used 1x10's and 3/4" sheathing and basic 2 way hinges.

It appears I mis-read the gentleman's post. It wasn't a personal attack, more of sarcasm. Carry on

The Homebrew Jeep Mod Thread-photo143.jpg bam. Interior ambient temp and compass. Mounts with Velcro so you can put it anywhere you want but I wanted it here so it's with the other gauges and out of the sun so it gives a more accurate reason than the light of the sun heating it up. Got it at pep-boys for $4-10. Can't remember what price but it was in that range. And not really a home brew but an easier mod.
