When cutting out bad areas, keep them as templates for the new sheet steel. Trace the pattern on the new sheet steel allowing, an additional inch around the entire pattern. This will accommodate for, holes drilled through the new sheet steel, for Rosette welds. Drill holes approx, 1/4" ~3/8" in diameter. And approx 1~ 1 and a half inches, apart.
When you cut out the bad spots, check everything under aswhere its currently bad.
I found my treat frame rails, were shot. I had to rebuild them as well.

lol.. this is why I asked. I figured he probably thought of something a little more ingenuitive than a ratchet strap. No offense, of course, that's a completely viable option. I like engineered details like this though.
