Default homebrew diff cover guard

Well bordem set it today and I came up with this took me like 20 mins to make out of a piece of scrap i had laying around... Let me know what you think good or bad....

it just would cause troubles if you hit that with a rock
but it is a good start, try to weld a thicker piece of metal

Yeah, I have to agree, it seems a little thin to me. Good on you for trying to come up with something on your own though!!

looks good and i think the best thing that came out of this board-em you had was that ur diff cover is clean

Needs to be thicker. Other than that the only problem I see is that you may have some issues refilling your diff fluid unless you get a small hose or something to stick in there. Props for actually building something instead of buying it though

Thanks guys I tryed lol... I just got some thicker i wanna say 1/8" plate from my buddy gunna try to beef it up and make it cleaner looking.. I agree on the diff refilling issue... I may notch it out or just use a hose I already have to fill diffs.. I'll get pics as I continue to tweak this and make it better...

yea I agree with everyone, I would use a good torch to heat some 3/16" steel, a vice, and a dead blow hammer to conform the steel to the diff cover. Also, the actual ring gear bump is the furthest point of the diff cover, I would run that metal right over that.

screw it, now Im gunna try to build a cover! Good work WAD 357!!

IMHO, that is too thin as well, 1/4" FTW.

This is what I did.

Ring is 1/8" and guard is 5/16"


Installed.
