you really don't have room in the cargo area for a stock size tire? because I can see through your window. and that tire did not have to go on your roof

There is already a spare with the vehicle in the rear. But it's a space saver and it's on the left hand side of the boot area.

It will look stupid as its still nearly a stock vehicle. I've not finished what I want to do yet.

I would trust that setup more than the guys that throw a spare up there and use a ratchet strap. And, about the back "wing", where did you get it? I live on a nasty dirt road and my rear wiper sucks, that looks like it would keep the crap off the back window nicely. I had one on my S-10 Blazer, worked great. I like the light bar made from the luggage bar also. Doin the best with what ya got, gotta love it.

The spoiler comes off of Orvis model XJs over the pond. They're usually hard to find.

I thought about doing this... but then I built a full size rack. I do plan on getting one of those carriers though and drilling some holes in its back plate and bolt it to my rack through the expanded metal I have on the bottom. Looks good though. Good job.

I thinks its a cool idea. Is there room to mount a 31-33" wheel/tire combo on that? Those racks do bow with a bunch of weight but I have NEVER seen one break, damage a roof or come apart. I think your safe

Finally some good views! Was just about to give up. I've added a third bar to support the front. Very little movement and the bars and straight with no sag. When I get slightly larger wheels it will be best place for it. It's bolted and welded up there. Not going anywhere. Plus I can move up and down the rails with ease. So leaves room for other items. Going to add some fuel/water cans up there. Maybe custom make a short roof rack.

I like the fact that your using what you have around and some ingenuity, but have never liked the idea of a spare on the roof, no matter what its mounted on. A 33" is plenty heavy and a pain in the butt to get up there or back down, let alone climbing up there and un-bolting it or re-bolting it in place, but at least you have a full size spare! lots of guys go without a spare at all

What I'm hearing is that you logged on and posted your project here to read "Good Job!", "Way to Go!"

I'm sorry I don't feel that way.

Remove the spacer saver tire on the inside and bolt the full size in it's place.

It will fit. I promise...

A spare for your spare makes sense to me. Especially when he has to drive on the wrong side of the road, jk. I still like the idea but recently got a small basket for my roof.
