Thanks man :-). Not that much really. But should weigh it to get a figure. :-). Shouldn't take too long to have it sorted out with the smaller things now like the ends and the paint :-)
Also going to get a tire cover too in black with jeep logo :-)

... Why am I always the one to shoot something down?
You don't think those super flimsy stock cross bars with that much leverage on them isn't going to cause the tire to bounce all over the place.
Also, why is this different than just setting a tire up there except not you have to get on the roof and actually pick the tire UP off of the studs to remove it. That'd be a pain.
Let's see it with a tire on it.

As I said before guys it's not finished yet. The bracket itself makes it a sturdy fit. Think about it. When your loading a push bike onto the roof or a kayak. What they going to mount to? I prefer to have a bolt on system to make it a proper fit rather than buy something that's got a long thread and giant wing nut to hold it on.
When it's finished guys I'll get more pictures up. As I said I can't fit it yet because I need to get two roof bar slider ends for it as the buttons broken. Once fitted the wheel will supply extra structure to the bracket.
Give it time guys before you judge what I've done.

I have a Wrangler carrier & was gonna do this too.But my 33 on the steel wheel weights alot.I was gonna bolt mine together but thought the X-bars were too flimsy.I also figured it would sit to high to be safe & it wouldn't look right.
I think the carrier bolted to the cargo area floor would work great.

Wanted to avoid actually going onto the cargo section if possible. I've only got a standard size wheel and tire so it's not that heavy. Two bars welded with a bracket is pretty sturdy even when it was sat on the ground.

The good thing about this idea is that your free to move the tire on the rails anywhere you wanted. Making space for other possible items. Fuel cans. Short roof rack. Sand ladders. Rather than have it fixed to one point on the vehicle.
