Don't flatter yourself I joined in January and you linked this thread. I just wanted to make sure a newbie didn't see this and think its a good idea. If you were open to constructive criticism, you might be able to have a decent looking snorkel that will last more than a month

the snorkel will last a long time. do your gutters only last a month? if so your house is weird. the only probem he's going to have is clogging the filter with mud flying thru the air. he chose function over beauty. this thing works better than ANY k&n. this will serve as two things. 1. snorkle (obvious) 2. cold air intake. think about stuff more before ragging on someone.

1. the rain gutter will rack when it hits a tree
2. using duck tape to attach a rectangluare rain gutter to a round hose will fail and when it does say good bye to the motor.
3. have the air filter exposed like that for a mudder is just dumb. If the op spent and extra ten minutes he could have reused his stock air box

If the function i s**** then its s****

Well,

1. if you rack a $300 snorkel against a tree you'll kill that one too, except your not out a ton of money.

2. I agree with, but Im sure reading all of this he will/SHOULD figure out a better way to attach the two.

3. Like someone suggested, get an old coffee can or something and make a hood and he should be fine.

i didnt have stock airbox or i would have. i just bought the jeep and the kid before me had no idea what he is doing. if you wanted me to show you why i didnt need this thing to be a show car ill take pics of the pich welds in rear fenders half cut off, the dents in the rockers, the hacksawed out a/c and att the other "knick knacks" the kid did to this thing. i bought the jeep for 500 bucks cash. this isnt my main car. its a woods beater.

I commend the guy for fabbing up his own fuctional snorkel. Great on him. Lets see your "better ways". Can't just get on the forum and talk smack and not show any proof of your words.

To the OP, the only suggestion i would make is cut about 8" off were the bottom of the filter would begin right at the top of the roof. Besides that, great work

I didnt notice the square to round pipe being duct taped.. hit up Home Depot. They have square to round spout adapters.. you may need a few pieces to neck down to the proper size.

Oil Town.. why is this bothering you so much? It may not be the way you or i would do it but let the kid get creative if he chooses.

My main concern is when you bust it on the trail sure it's only $20 to replace it but last I checked Home Depot don't set up stores on the trail so you got to drive it out with a hole in the fender leading to the throttle body. Just my 2 cent but then I don't find a snorkel necessary since the rest of the motor isn't water proof and what about the exhaust. If you go thru water deep enough to need one then you have water in the distrubutor, ps pump and oil so the motor is toast. BTW ps fluid turns into a foamy jello substance when water gets into it and then you get to buy a new pump.
