Home brew frame stiffners
Before i do any lifting or such on my XJ, i plan on putting some frame stiffners under it, so for anyone here who has fab'd up their own, post some pics and also what you used as far as sealant. Also ive got a selection of 3" angle iron 3/16" and 1/4" thick, which would you guys use? I tend to fab up things a little heavy or over kill you might say but, id rather do it once and not have to worry about it breaking or coming apart.

Never done it, but I have seen people here on the internetz build them. Use the 3/16". Its plenty from what I have seen. Check out Pirate's TOTM about this:http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168280
1/4" is more than overkill, its excess.

for the price of material these days its cheaper just to buy a set but I hear ya for wanting to fabricate something. I agree with ^ I think 1/4" is too much. If it helps ya, think about like this. 3/16" angle + 1/16" body rail = 1/4"; lol.
good luck, post pictures!
