Default Herculined the inside of my XJ

I decided that i wanted to take out my carpet and clean up the rust and herculine the inside of my XJ. It wasn't to badly rusted, but I wanted to clean it up before it got worse.

to get the rust off i used wire wheels, and some green roloc discs. to scuff up the paint i used medium surface discs just enough to get the paint off.
then I used acetone to clean up before i put the herculiner on.

I did two coats of herculiner. First coat, then the second coat i put on 1 hour and 30 minutes later. These photos are taken 15 or so hours after i lined it with herculiner. Its still tacky in certain areas and not fully dry yet.

here it is with the silver stuff off now ( it was a pain getting the silver stuff off but after i got it off i did the best i could to get the rubber stuff that was stuck to it off by sanding it off )

heres the drivers side floor panel

passenger side

heres the rear

now here is the front cleaned up some

Here it is all scuffed up.

I also took off the plastic step things and herculined that in the front and rear

there was a few little rust holes so i put JB weld stick over it. the jb weld worked good. its as hard as a rock on there.

here it is herculined. I plan to do the cargo area eventually. I still have a little less then half a gallon left out of the gallon of herculiner i bought.

It wasnt that much trouble. First I took apart everything took the rugs out ect, then took apart the center console, then the hardest part was taking off the silver tape stuff. because its rubbered down or something. I used a chisel to peel it away. then i preped everything. in my opinion the most annoying part was putting everything back together.

Looks good, man. I just repaired my rust and did some undercoating until I get my hands on a gallon of bedliner. I wish mine was as non-rusty as yours. Mine looked like this before the repairs

Then I fixed the rust, undercoated the floor, and tossed in some floors mats

Is yours real hot on the driver's side due to the exhaust routing? Mine is pretty toasty, but I figured that if I get a nice thick coat of bedliner on my floors, it may not let the heat pass as easily.

i'll let you know tomorrow, i haven't drove it with herculiner on it yet. decided to let it dry for two days. but you should get ahold of some bedliner to do your jeep with, it will hold up a lot better.

I used conditioning discs for the scuffing.

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_2%22-Conditioning-Disc---Medium,-2-1%22-x-4-77%22-3M_7100075-P_N3374_T|GRP2006____

for the rust I used wire wheels. I used this for the heavy rust.

and I used something similar to this, but fits in a drill. for lighter rust spots.

and also green roloc discs in certain spots (wasn't necessary though wire wheel was good enough)

and to remove the rubber that was stuck on it from the silver tape stuff I used a 40 grit sand wheel. it removed most of it.
