Default Headlight Rock Gaurds

So I upgraded the XJ with the headlight harness and put in some new Silverstar headlights for better night time driving. Love them, so much nicer. BUT then a week later had to buy another $25 Silverstar as a rogue rock took out the driver side headlight. Dont want that to happen again and I couldn't find anything out in the aftermarket that would work for me. So I made my own out of $8.00 worth of material and about an hour of my time.
First pic is of the finished product. Then pics of the process. The rack I got was enough to do both headlights. I first used side cutters to trim fit. Cleaned up all the cut edges with a grinder. I used a sharp pick to scrib for the holes. Drilled holes, inserted gaurd into headlight suround, then marked and drilled for screw to hold in other side. All adjusting screws are still accessible. I just hit it with some black paint before final install.

Just a heads up you can get ticketed or fail an inspection for them if the inspector or cop is picky. Technically you can't have anything over your headlights in VA.

Gives me a good idea for a cover for my sub though.

Yeah, I'm an inspector so I can overlook it. They are easily removed though just in case.

I wonder if that'd get me a ticket or a pull over.. I'd argue that it doesn't obstruct the view though.. although rules are rules. How strong is that metal? Would it bend if I hit/slid into a tree or something?

Universal stone guards. They sell them on eBay. But $8 sure beats the $20 for the pair.

I have seen absolutely no effect on night driving at all. And they would bend if hitting a tree. I do like the ebay kits but I wanted something different.
