Yea, wear a respirator. After three days of rust repair I was coughing up black rusty phlegm. Also be weary of the brakelines on the driver's side near the trans tunnel. And be careful if your doing the cargo area because of all the lines and what not. And be especially careful if your welding in the cargo area. I pretty much made a step by step guide in my build thread if you have any trouble.

I saw on that Rock Auto site that the pans are pretty cheap. My patience level is pretty low and my ability to get everything back together, well that usually ends with me stomping into the house and the wife finishing things for me. I was thinking of pulling what I could out of the rotted areas, getting to bare metal as best i can and then hitting it with some rustoleum. Once a few coats of that drys, I thought a healthy coat of bedliner on the cut out, another coat on the bottom of the pan and then smoosh them together and toss a couple sand bags on top till it dries. Another quick rustoleum and bedline layer on top and put the carpet back, should get me more time then my jeep has left in her!

Or am I a drunk who needs to find a plan B?

I did the floor pans from rock auto and do not like how they fit. When I do it again I would just buy a sheet of 14 ga and cut some out.

I am going to heruline the inside and not sure about the bottom. Might just put undercoat under it.

The floor pans just took some hammering to get to fit.
I have a pc of 14 ga for the cargo area.

The worst part of my floor was on the passenger side and the cargo area.

I cut all the bad floor out. Sorry no pic of the cut. I cut from where the floor meets the side rocker over to where it started to bend up into the tunnel. After I recieved my floor panels I put them in the jeep and marked around the new panel and then removed new panel and then trimed the old floor about an inch below the marks I made. I had also replaced my rockers with 3"x6" x 3/16" wall tube. I used a cut off wheel in my angle grinder to cut floor and try not to cut the frame.

In the cargo area the gas tank is right against the floor so after I put a little hole in it, I took it out. I used a air chisel to remove old floor a little at a time.

All the wires you see were the wires that run from under the dash on the drivers side to the back. I just unpluged every thing and moved them out of the way. I do not have the back cargo area floor in yet. I bought a pc of 14ga steel that I need to cut a fit before I plug weld it in.
Before I put the floor in the back I want make sure I had my bumper mounts all in.

I also added frame stiffeners I bought from TandT customs before I put the floor back in. I fixed my left spring mounts when I had it apart also.

worst part I think is getting the seam sealer stuff cleaned off so you can weld. I used a course wire wheel in my grinder and it worked pretty good.

I hope this helps.

I really like the rocker/slider deal.. I may look into doing that on mine.. I figured that i would end up cutting all the way to the edges much like you did.. I myself wondered how flat that area really is and thought that a person could use a decent guage of sheet metal and do a good job lacing it back in and probably be better than stock.. I hate to pry but if you feel the need to post up pics of the rocker project as well that would be fine by me. or send me a link to all your pics..
