Default Fabrication Defined

Just because I see so many posts that aren't even remotely fabrication I decided a basic definition was in order.

If you fall within the relm of not knowing the definition please read and use accordingly. Also any post deemed not fab will be closed not moved. It's far easier to close than to move and well I am tired of idots who can't read...

1 & 2 would apply here.

World English Dictionary
fabricate (ˈfæbrɪˌkeɪt) — vb
1. to make, build, or construct
2. to devise, invent, or concoct (a story, lie, etc)
3. to fake or forge
[C15: from Latin fabricāre to build, make, from fabrica workshop; see fabric ]
fabri'cation — n
'fabricative— adj
'fabricator— n

everyone keeps saying it's not fab unless it involves welding. so I'm glad #2 applies becuase I like seeing all the innovative small stuff along with the hardcore fabrication

i agree people need to learn to read the stickies.
but i think where people get confused is thinking they can ask about future fabrication or advice before starting.. where as most people want this to be a place for current ongoing or finished fab projects only with pics. (which i agree, is best)

okcjeeper didnt mention that so i just thought id add it in

Agreed. Welding is a subset or skill that one could use in fabricating something. One can fabricate out of almost any material or medium as long as the end result produces something new and unique. Use composites metal or wood it is all fabrication. Since it is an off road vehicle the easy standby is metal and have seen quite a few bumpers showcasing ones skills. By all means keep posting the builds are cool.

Because he's the admin of the forum. Is that okay with you?

OKC, good stuff. Tired of seeing muffler threads and "what do you think about..." threads. Fabrication needs to be for an ACTUAL project or a completed product.

I would agree that seeing complete projects are cool. Would not mind seeing the steps taken in fabricating a sub components for the XJ. Do not believe that it is consider as a "build" as it is only one component. Think it would also be nice seeing half finished projects were a guy is stuck and seeking advice from the forums on how to finish it up.

A paper sketch would not count in my book.

Curious what the collective opinion is on this?
