Default Another rear bumper build

Well I got tired of lookin at the factory rear bumper and built this one. 2x6 rectangular tube 1/4 wall. Trimmed the ends to match the factory body lines. Decided it needed a hitch and throwed on some d hooks. Used quarter plate at the factory mounting locations and 2x2 square tube 1/4 wall for mounting brackets. Capped off the ends of the 2x6 with some 1/8 x 2 plate. Lil flat black and there she is. Still have to brave it to the sub frame but I was just happy to see it on. So anybody got some pics of how they braced their rear bumper so I have a good startin point?

Kind of a bad cell pic but here is what I did. I actually used some heavy u bolt plate left over from a trailer axle.

Then used flat plate doubled up and welded together as an anchor point for the shackles once it's a finished piece. Not pretty but beefy

Think I'll run a piece of the rectangular tubing across there like you did. Simple and does the job

I made tubes that slide in the frame rail on mine. It gives more support if you are really stuck and need winched out

Make them 2x 3 3/4. The pass. side will be longer. Drill holes using the bar tab with the nuts on. Weld nuts on the inside of the tubes to allow you to put bolts up through to secure the tube to the frame. The driver side will be shorter due to the fuel tube, but it is still secure. Then weld your bumper to the tubes. I don't have any pics cause i lost them in my other computer. You'll have to make the hole in the frame a little larger for the tubes to slide in
