Here's mine. I still plan on putting some extensions on them. Just can't decide on round or square tube.

Do the bolts go all the way through? I know that some dont whould it be a stronger hold if they do?

I welded mine to the jeep in place of the rockers. you can check my build page for how I did it. I would post a picture but I am on my phone.

The rail that mounts to the rocker seam has bolts through there, I think 6 per side if I remember correct. The inner mounting locations are all just self tappers. Three on the front leg and 4 on the back leg with 1 going into the front spring pocket.

Would it be stronger? Probably. But I wasn't going to put that much effort into them when most of the kits I researched didn't bother either. Plus I would think you'd have to sleeve the frame rail to avoid crushing it with a through bolt.

I agree on others not going through all the way either... Thanks for the info i plan on making mine soon but with some rubber on top for better grip when getting into the jeep. There is some rubber mats they sell in walmart in the r.v. section.

I ordered round tube from here to install later. http://www.ajsoffroadarmor.com/produ...cat=256&page=1

I build my own using the drawing on the first page. I had a friend weld them.

Finally, here is a pic of how I did it. I welded mine in because my rockers were already trashed so cutting the old ones out was the best option.

Wondering what size gap/spacing you all have between your rock sliders and your rocker panels? Thanks

2x6 in place of stock rockers. Bolted and welded. Combined with HD Offroad frame stiffeners makes for no body flex and extremely strong.

Sorry to pull up an old thread but apparently I'm too new to the forum to start a new thread in fab and I wanted to share my sliders.

I used 2x2 square tubing and kept it simple. I've added enough weight to my Jeep the way it is so any additional pieces that some add and use as steps I thought were unnecessary. I do know they can provide some extra protection though, so I might change my mind and add some round tube in later. I also didn't want to lose too much clearance so I cut out a section of the pinch seam where I ran the frame tie ins so I could get the slider as close to the body as possible. I then threw a weld bead on each of the sections I had cut in order to keep everything sealed.

Here's a pic of the frame tie in tube running through the section of the pinch seam I cut out.

To keep the slider as close to the body as possible the frame rail tie in had to be run at a bit of an angle. Here you can also see the 1x1 angle iron I used to attach to the pinch seam. I used 5 bolts per side through the pinch seam. I attached the sliders to the frame with 8 self tapping bolts per side. I'm not thrilled with this attachment since the unibody is so thin, but once I get my TNT frame stiffeners welded in I'll be a lot happier.

Here you can see how close the end product sits to the body compared to some that you see. I know I would lose even less clearance with rocker replacement but my XJ has zero rust so I just couldn't bring myself to hack up the rockers.

Glamour shot.
