Bumper Build
So I been thinking the orgional mount I made for my winch just wasn't cutting it anymore. It did fine for what it was but the jeep just needed more.
So today I started with this:
Then took some of this:
Made some of these:
Attached it to this:
Then ended up with something like this:
Through on a little side skirting:
Which made it look a little more like this:
Welded it all together and through in some inner bracing:
So plans are to finish it all up sometime this week by throwing on some top and bottom covers for the side ends, attaching the d-ring mounts where the bracing is attached at, cutting out a spot for the flare head, adding some light tabs, then cleaning it all up with a mop wheel and throwing on some paint.
All the steel is 3/16" thick plate, except for the winch plate which is 5/8", and the bracing is 3/16" angle to take the force from the D-ring pulls to the 16 bolt frame mounts. Let me know what you guys think.

Well I final got around to getting a little more work done on the bumper:
Threw on the top and bottom side plates, filled in all the welds. Then took the angle grinder and smoothed it all out. Next step is to throw on the D-rings, hit the hole thing with a mop disc, and throw on a little paint.

Thanks guys, It's slow going finding time outside of work to play with the bumper. But I've had the champion winch for over a yr now. It's a pretty good deal for what all it comes with. It's a slow pulling winch but it's never let me down yet.

yes and no, It only sticks out 7" from the front of the jeep. I could have raised it up a bit which would have helped but I think it should be fine. Time will tell.

It's the winch mounting plate that came with the winch. It had pre-drilled holes in it. I'm considering them drain holes for now

Well finally finished up the work on the bumper today. Got the D-rings welded on and also hit the hole thing with a mop disc. Just waiting on the paint to dry now so I can throw it on tomorrow.
