So i am getting my new bumper prolly this weekend and it's coming bare metal. I am looking to paint it with some good paint, it's going to have to be spray cans since i do not have access to a sprayer. What is a good primer and a good paint that i should be looking at gettting? should i sand it down like you would do to a car or what? Just a lil tips would be great thanks..

You shouldn't have to sand the surface, but I would. I like Krylon or Rustoleum for spray paint. Krylon dries faster, but Rustoleum lasts a bit longer. I would use some self-etching primer. It all really depends on what you prefer.
Herculiner isnt 'just' a bedliner though. you can use it for multiple things, for example the inside of your XJ the outside, the bumper, rockers, anything. I plan to herculine my bumpers and skids and rockers once i decide to get them.

No, Herculiner is a bedliner. You can use it on basically anything you feel like, yeah, somethings might not be a good idea however. That's why when you put bedliner on something you just "bedlined" it.

I used Krylon on my whole truck and it works awesome. They have really nice spray nozzle's and are adjustable. Its' been on my truck for about a year and looks the same as day one. I used self-etching primer and would recommend it, it's a little more cash but worth every penny.
What i might reccommend is get a paint you like brush on primer several coats of course, then get the recomended paint you want brush it/roll it. Then get a rattlecan version and just do a finishing job with that. I think the finish is better that way. A little extra work, but worth it

this is waht i get off line for self itching,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
it's used in place of sanding so you want to put a thin layer on the bare metal
then you want to use an epoxy primer
then you paint with the choosen color
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
is that correct?

I'd use probably a 800-1000 grit sand paper, just because your not removing paint and redoing the surface. You're just etching the steel for a better stick.
