Default Built me some hood vents

I have been procrastinating filling the holes in my hood. Here is the ones I cut to vent it behind the radiator.

My first attempt was a dismal failure, so I didn't try it again for awhile. But I got tired of the uglies. So here is what I built.

First attempt was the passenger side.

I may redo the passenger side when I get some time. But it gets better every time I try it.

It was all done by hand. I did make a couple of dies out of some 1" thick steel I had left over from some other project. Then I used a brass drift shaped on one end to beat the metal into those shapes.

Well Steve I like the vents but can't say I like the placement of them in the front of your hood.

I would mount them from underneath, and use a touch of bondo to blend them in, that would look real clean... I like the vents and would do the same if I was in the Southwest US

That would have been very difficult. The vents extend to the hood supports so mounting would have to deal with them. Also, the passenger side hole is not exactly triangular.

Ah yes, I see now... don't remember seeing that crooked beam in my hood, but have to admit I never looked that hard, always open hood to look down at engine and not up at the covering.

next time you get hold of a hood, do up the louvers before you mount it
