Hinges that bolt onto the outside of the door and body would be a no.. atleast not without putting in bracing to the door area and body area where the hinge would mount as the doors weigh too much and the XJ sheet metal is way too thin.. You'd be better (and easier) off just cutting the hinges like everyone else honestly.
And there's write-ups somewhere around here on using TJ mirrors on an XJ.. I remember reading one quite awhile ago

i just got done making my doors removable, its a pita bc u got to unbolt the hinges. cut them then rebolt then corretly aligned and make the wires quick disconnects...but its possible, just hope your patient
